Focus: Level IV class
Please note: The Level III class covers restoration of access sites, and
is a prerequisite for Level IV.
The Level IV class is for doctors only and is limited to 8
veterinarians with two instructors and one assistant.
This class is approved
for 20 hours of continuing education credits.
This class is for veterinarians only and covers endodontic therapy for veterinary patients, including conventional root canal therapy and vital pulp therapy (“pulp caps”). Most class dates will also have a human endodontic specialist as an additional instructor. Each participant has their own work station equipped with everything needed for the class, and will receive a very complete instrument/materials kit (retail value well over $1000). The contents of the endodontic kits are in the process of being finalized at this time.
This class is an intensive 2 ½ days class, with the first lecture section beginning at 8 AM on the first day. The next two days are mostly lab, with some lecture in the AM. The class will end at noon on the third day.
Why 2 ½ days? Dr. Woodward refuses to provide any training unless the participants can go home and apply the material. Endodontic therapy is often mischaracterized as being simple to perform. Some training classes attempt to teach endodontic therapy in just one day (or even a half day). This is ludicrous and will never give you the skills needed for successful treatment. Consider the following: In human dental school, endodontic therapy is a multi-year lecture and lab class. Even with this degree of training, a large percentage of human dentists elect to refer all of their endodontic cases, recognizing that they are incapable of providing quality treatment. There are many nuances to endodontic therapy that can spell the difference between success and failure. If you choose to provide endodontic therapy in your practice you will be held to a high standard of care.
There is no substitute for having someone who has performed hundreds of root canal procedures hovering over you while you work. Simply put, the level of personal attention, organization, and instrumentation in this class is excellent. Our goal for you is to take this difficult course material and make it simple.
Due to the large amount of material presented in this class, some study is required prior to attending the class. Unless you are willing to spend 10-20 hours studying the reading list ahead of time, you will find this class to be very difficult. If you do not want to prepare, you should probably not take this class. The recommended reading list will be provided for you when you register for this class
All participants must also bring their own magnification loupes (surgical
telescopes) to the course. 2 ½ power loupes are recommended. Inexpensive
optivisor magnification headbands are not recommended. Miltex, Designs for
Vision and Orascoptic are all good sources for surgical telescopes. The Miltex
loupes are a good value” and replace it with “The Miltex loupes
are a good value and are available through most Animal Health dealers. You
